If you know me, then you know how I feel about the Grand Canyon state. That said, this is an excellent movie. I recently rewatched the classic Coen Brothers' Raising Arizona (1986), not remembering anything about it other than it being the movie that always made my dad tear up when I was a kid. Marketed as "A comedy beyond belief," I never understood why the sassy slapstick had that effect on him - until now. Underneath the offbeat hilarity, it is a story about growing up, growing old, and trying to be better. Nicolas Cage, Holly Hunter and ex-boxer Randall "Tex" Cobb are flawlessly cast in this truly great film of struggle, love, redemption, and fate.

When H.I. and Ed arrange to have some "decent friends" over, one offspring of the visiting couple foreshadows the joys of impending middle childhood - on their living room wall.
